P.K Subban, member of the Montreal Canadiens who will play in tomorrow's match against the Boston Bruins may have made the headlines in the Montreal Gazette last week, but Le Windsor gets full exposure, as well! Recognize the row of chandeliers?

Exactly a year ago, the All Star Charity event brought in Max Pacioretty, Alexander Ovechkin and Vladislav Tretiak to help raise funds for Pacioretty's foundation in a live and silent auction. A cocktail dinatoire setup with food stations and passed hors d'oeuvres kept the crowd mingling between the two ballrooms and the Peacock Alley, where the silent auction was setup. The Versailles ballroom then attracted the guests to participate in the live auction, while the Windsor ballroom housed the VIP area with live music.

This is not Subban's first visit to our downtown Montreal venue. He previously made a surprise guest appearance at a bar-mitzvah that was held here. Shall he make a return perhaps for a wedding? Maybe his own? Or one of his teammates?

Sometimes, the bride and groom hold their wedding ceremony off-site, other times they walk down the aisle in the Peacock Alley, but on occasion they celebrate in our Versailles ballroom under the chandelier. In our downtown Montreal reception hall, we get to see so many various set up styles within the same type of event and last Fall, photographers from the Bachmann team beautifully captured a wedding ceremony celebrated in the Versailles ballroom.

Bessie & Coco Photography recently organized a photo shoot in our venue and showcased some beautiful wedding gowns from Boutique J'Adore. Needless to say, it was pure, simple fun to see the team working together, trying on gowns and getting make-up and hair ready! But, even more, what was inspiring was to see the different talents combine their artistry and passion into the same project.

"As a photographer, I'm always on the lookout for interesting locations where I can shoot with available light. When I saw the ballrooms at Le Windsor, I knew I absolutely had to have a photo shoot there. The large windows, the details on the walls and architecture, the gorgeous chandeliers and overall romantic charm make it a beautiful backdrop. It possesses that opulent, old-world look without being too overdone. When I contacted the Marketing department with my ideas, they were very excited, accommodating and fun to work with. Thank you to all the staff!"

For the past couple of decades, Le Windsor has been an attractive Montreal film location due to its historic ballrooms, detailed architecture and high ceilings.

The two following movie trailers have beautifully highlighted the magnificent Versailles Ballroom crystal chandelier that Le Windsor has come to be famous for.

Winner of a Cannes Film Festival award, we will not fail to mention that part of the movie, Laurence Anyways was shot right here in our very own ballrooms. Our famous Versailles crystal chandelier is getting a taste of what it is like to be on the big screen.





And last summer, we had the privilege of welcoming big name actors into our ballrooms as the movie, "The Words," was being filmed. The movie is set to come out in theatres in the fall.

One of the many perks of working at Le Windsor is getting to see our reception halls transform into different looks depending on the occasion or celebration. Whether the event is a cocktail dinatoire, conference, fundraiser or social occasion, we are ceaselessly amazed at the collaborative efforts of the many different vendors that make an event come to life.

This week, we wanted to highlight a Bar-mitzvah that was held in our ballrooms last Fall. The attention to detail is impeccable. Take a look at some of the photos shot during the event.

With over 50 vendors, a special presentation and an exclusive fashion show, this wedding event is a must-do this weekend for all you brides and grooms to be.

For four straight days, Party Poker and Eventure Group are teaming up to hold the biggest charity poker tournament in North America. This year, they hope to sell out the event where all donations and proceeds benefit the JTL-BRCA to fund genetic breast cancer research at the Jewish General Hospital and McGill University.

The team here at Le Windsor is excited that they have chosen our reception venue in beautiful downtown Montreal where 20 finalists will compete and qualify for a trip to Las Vegas.

What we are looking forward to the most is seeing them re-create the World Poker Tournament final table with special staging and lighting in our Salon Windsor, making it one of the most unique party venues in Montreal.

On March 31st, Le Windsor will be proud to host yet another memorable event - the 54th St. Stephen's Ball, organized by the Hungarian community of Montreal. This year's theme, titled, "An Evening in Budapest," is expected to draw close to 450 guests in a formal banquet style dinner and dance soirée.

Debutantes will highlight the evening as they are formerly introduced to the guest of honor and perform the traditional Waltz with their escorts.

When asked why they had chosen to hold their gala at Le Windsor Ballrooms, they mentioned that the very first Hungarian St. Stephen's Ball was held here when it beared the name, "Hotel Windsor," and they wanted to bring this special occasion back to their roots. This is now their fourth year in a row that the Ball is held at our venue and we are pleased to have them again. We also cannot wait to see the beautiful décor of flower arrangements, paintings and not to mention the gorgeous ball gowns that the debutantes will be wearing. Who wouldn't want to play "Cinderella" for a night?!
