Le Windsor - An ideal venue for your next tradeshow event
May 18, 2012
The next time you are planning a tradeshow in Montreal, consider the historic and spacious ballrooms of Le Windsor.

Its twenty-foot ceilings, combined space of more than 10,000 square feet, and its ideal downtown location will have a lasting impression for any tradeshow exhibitor and visitor, alike.

The photos below were taken from last month's event where kiosques were set up in both ballrooms, including the Peacock Alley, the long marble hallway separating the two halls. A two-sided bar acted as the focal point in the Salon Windsor and provided beverages for the visitors. A welcome address was made in the Salon Versailles where a theatre style set up sat up to 200 people.

Announcing the Award Winners of the 2012 "Aces of Finance" Competition

The Quebec Chapter of FEI Canada honours the remarkable contributions of four financial executives and recognizes one exceptional career with the Homage Award

MONTREAL, QUÉBEC--(Marketwire - May 10, 2012) - The Quebec Chapter of Financial Executives International Canada (FEI Canada), an all-industry professional association for senior financial executives, announced the award winners of the "Aces of Finance" competition in front of more than 300 guests during a gala evening held at the prestigious Le Windsor on May 9, 2012.

Held this year under the honorary chairmanship of Pierre Matuszewski, Chief Executive Officer of Societe Generale in Canada, this competition is open to all Quebec-based Chief Financial Officers and Vice Presidents of Finance, regardless of FEI Canada membership. The purpose of the competition is to recognize the professional accomplishments and community involvement of three exceptional financial executives. This year, the jury selected four award winners. Their names are:

"Public corporation, including crown corporation" category
*Mr. Daniel Buron, CA, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Domtar

"Private corporation" category (placed equal)
*Mr. Michel G. Gagnon, ICD.D, Vice President, Finance and Business Development, Aluminerie Alouette inc.
and
*Mr. Sylvain J. Perron, CA, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Biron Groupe Santé Inc.

"Emerging financial executive" category
*Ms. Stéfanie Pelletier, CA, Vice President, Finance, Laurentian Bank of Canada

With so many remarkable finalists, it was no easy task for jury members to narrow the field. The four award winners have all gone beyond their primary role as a financial executive and have made exceptional contributions to their individual companies by providing their presidents with strategic guidance. Their achievements are all the greater, considering the difficult economic context of recent years and that certain decisions must have been difficult to make.

"Our profession requires vast expertise, and we are very proud of this," declared Mr. Carl Gauvreau, President, Quebec Chapter of FEI Canada. "This event is a unique opportunity to highlight the work of highly-competent financial executives, who make direct and significant contributions to their organizations, regardless of the industry sector."

During the gala evening, the Quebec Chapter of FEI Canada also named the recipient of the first-ever Homage Award, part of the "Aces of Finance" competition. This award is given to the financial executive whose outstanding career has contributed greatly to finance and who is an inspiration to peers. The winner is Mr. Richard Fortin, founding member of Alimentation Couche-Tard. Mr. Fortin served as the company's financial executive for more than 25 years and currently sits on several important boards of directors.

This was the second edition of the "Aces of Finance" competition.

Montreal designer Charlotte Hosten launches her first collection of bridal accessories.
April 13, 2012
I met Charlotte and her team last month at Maddy K's Bridal Boudoir Affair and immediately was taken by their warm personality. I felt lucky to have been neighboring vendors, otherwise we might not have had the chance to meet them and see their work up close and personal. The beauty and passion behind Charlotte's work speaks for itself and I'm happy to share it with you in the images below.

But first, in their own words, here's what they're all about:

The Collection: Delicate garter belts made with lace, vintage brooches and lovely silk ribbons, sophisticated headpieces, refined belts, sweet headbands as well as delicate fresh water pearl mixed with Swarovski crystals bracelets and exceptional necklaces are only a few items from this supremely romantic collection.

Custom Designs: Charlotte Hosten elaborates on dreamy one-of-a-kind jewellery and accessories for brides-to-be that incorporate family heirlooms or pieces having sentimental value.

Where to get it: The bridal collection is available at our Montreal Atelier Boutique (122 Bernard O, Montréal) as well as on our website: www.charlottehosten.com.

The Designer: Born and raised in Belgium, Charlotte is now a true Montrealer who instinctively began creating jewellery at the tender age of 15. Although she attended law school, Charlotte ultimately decided to forgo the practice of law to design full time. Today, her original pieces are sold across Canada and throughout the world. Publications such as Elegant Wedding, Mariage Québec, Wedding Bells, Mariage Chic, and Fashion all have featured her impressive work.

Cocktail dinatoire vs. Banquet style dinner
March 30, 2012
Over the last years, our Cocktail Dinatoire option has increased in popularity. For the set-up, the Peacock Alley is transformed into the bar area. The ballroom of your choice, depending on the size of your event, include food stations and our wait staff walk through the room with various hors d'oeuvres that your guests can select from. Places are not pre-set and guests can change their seating selection as desired. This set-up is appreciated for corporate events and fundraising events when networking and social interaction is encouraged and appreciated amongst guests. Compared with the traditional sit-down banquet style dinner, the cocktail dinatoire allows for a more freeflowing event.

The traditional sit-down banquet style dinner serves best when there are presenters on stage and guests are expected to listen to the presentation being made or if an orderly schedule is necessary. Our reception halls offer many options for layout, decor style and lighting options.

Whether you prefer a traditional event, a Cocktail Dinatoire or a cocktail event, it will be our pleasure to go over all details and options with you.

Booking your Kosher event has never been easier
March 16, 2012
One of the many perks of working at Le Windsor is getting to see our reception halls transform into different looks depending on the occasion or celebration. Whether the event is a cocktail dinatoire, conference, fundraiser or social occasion, we are ceaselessly amazed at the collaborative efforts of the many different vendors that make an event come to life.

This week, we wanted to highlight a bar-mitzvah that was held in our ballrooms last Fall. The attention to detail is impeccable. Take a look at some of the photos shot during the event.

Because we, at Le Windsor, have our very own Kosher kitchen, we are perfectly equipped to host any type of Kosher event whether it is a bar mitzvah, bat mitzvah or wedding.

If you are planning a Kosher event, contact us about our packages to see how we can help you.

Enjoy the photos!

Upcoming Events - The Hungarian St. Stephen's Ball - March 31, 2012
February 29, 2012
On March 31st, Le Windsor will be proud to host yet another memorable event - the 54th St. Stephen's Ball, organized by the Hungarian community of Montreal. This year's theme, titled, "An Evening in Budapest," is expected to draw close to 450 guests in a formal banquet style dinner and dance soirée.

Debutantes will highlight the evening as they are formerly introduced to the guest of honor and perform the traditional Waltz with their escorts.

When asked why they had chosen to hold their gala at Le Windsor Ballrooms, they mentioned that the very first Hungarian St. Stephen's Ball was held here when it beared the name, "Hotel Windsor," and they wanted to bring this special occasion back to their roots. This is now their fourth year in a row that the Ball is held at our venue and we are pleased to have them again. We also cannot wait to see the beautiful décor of flower arrangements, paintings and not to mention the gorgeous ball gowns that the debutantes will be wearing. Who wouldn't want to play "Cinderella" for a night?!

For more information or to buy tickets, please visit their website.
